Books Machines

L'exposition “Books Machines” est née d'une invitation à Jean-Max Colard de concevoir une exposition autour du livre dans dans le magasin Colette à Paris : exposer le « livre comme objet ou matériau de l'oeuvre d'art ». La proposition a été acceptée mais légèrement détournée ; l'objet livre sera relégué à la seconde place pour faire émerger la notion de bibliothèque, généralement mise de côté par les libraires. L'exposition est dès lors pensée comme un agencement de la boutique, un display.

The exhibition “Books Machines” arised out of an invitation to Jean-Max Colard to imagine an exhibition around the book in the Parisian concept-store Colette : to exhibit the “book as an object or an artwork material”. The proposition has been accepted but slightly changed; the book item will be consigned to the second place to emerge the notion of library, generally put aside by booksellers. So, the exhibition is thought like an organization of the shop, a display.
